Twitter announces tweaks for promoted tweets

Twitter has announced two new features to its self-service advertising platform that will give brands more control in campaign management.

The self-service advertising model, similar to the Google and Facebook offerings, has been available since March, with these new features rolling out in response to requests from advertisers.

Reporting: Are your campaigns working?

Follower reporting will allow brands to identify the success of promoted tweets through the new follower growth chart.

The reporting, for promoted accounts, will break down unpaid and paid follower growth.

Choose which tweets are promoted

Previously, tweets were automatically selected but this feature allows brands to select specific tweets for promotion.

Manual selection of promoted tweets will assist in advertising specific products, promotions or events.

Trying testing the market

Twitter is increasingly rolling out services to assist brands leveraging data for better engagement with customers, most recently launching the Twitter Certified Products Program, It will be hoping these initiatives help it gain ground on the well-established advertising models of Facebook and Google.

Twitter has announced that Promoted Tweets will be launching in Australia late in 2012.
